Marcus and Marwa Pasterkamp, along with artists and craftswomen and men they employ, apply a high degree of creativity to their business. Certainly, the unique formations of burled wood common to olive trees offer artistic opportunities in unusual sizes and shapes. But even common items produced in large quantities, such as spoons or chopping blocks, benefit from careful selection of wood to create the most beautiful finished product. For decades the name Pasterkamp has stood for high standards of creativity and quality using the natural beauty of olive wood, and so it continues at Pas-K Bois.
Marwa
Born in Sidi Bouzid she grew up in Ouled Haffouz. After finishing high school, she went to the University of Mahdia to study international businesses. She finalized her studies with the diploma of „Commerce-International“, passed in Italian language. After her studies, she went to France, Italy and Turkey to discover arts and crafts of other countries, working for the association “Femmes montrez vos muscles”. Marwa speakes fluently Arabic, French, Italian and German. She is officially certificated by the chamber of commerce as a professional in processing olive wood.She was the managingdirectrice of the oldest olive wood production plant in Sidi Bouzid, run by a French family. She worked there until this factory closed his doors, due to the retirement of the owner. Married with Marcus Pasterkamp, she is cofounder from Pas-K Bois Sarl. Together with her husband, she runs this well grown Business in Ouled Haffouz.
Marcus
Born in Krefeld/Germany. After finishing high school he studied wood arts & crafts at the sculptures school in Detmold/NRW. He finalized his studies with the diploma „Master of Arts & Craft“. Thereafter, he went to France for some years to learn more traditional technologies in wood processing. He worked as a „Lumber Jack“ in Burgundy, also at a sawmill in Provence. With these experiences Marcus went back to Germany, working with his father. Totally unexpected his father passed away in 2000. Marcus took over the business and began to spezialize his work in processing olive wood. He participated at many international trade fairs in Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Milano and even Shanghai! He is the Founder of Pas-K Bois Sarl and bhas planed and engineered the tunisian facility, based on his year-long experiences.He had installed a complete and powerful production line. The Pas-K Bois Sarl is placed on the own lot of the family, big enough for any further development.
